How To Feed Raw Beef Eyeballs For Dogs – Advanced Level – K9sOverCoffee

Today I’m going to show you how to feed raw beef eyeballs for dogs.

Yep, that includes a free raw dog food recipe.

This is a bit more of an advanced topic for hands-on raw feeders, so please don’t be discouraged if you’re a newbie raw feeder.

If you’re new to raw feeding, I recommend my e-book What Does Balanced Raw Dog Food Consist of?

I started feeding commercial raw dog food in 2015 and began making my own in 2016.

Yet I only got my hands on these eyeballs in early 2021.

So there’s that!

How To Feed Raw Beef Eyeballs For Dogs

First things first, it’s important to know which category of meat the beef eyeballs belong to.

That way, you can add the appropriate amount to your pup’s raw meals.

Beef Eyeballs Are Secreting Organs

Just like brains, beef eyeballs are a great source of Omega-3 fatty acids and support your dog’s eye health.

That said, beef eyeballs are secreting organs that make up 5% of your adult dog’s daily raw food.

Just FYI, puppies need different amounts of secreting organs than adult dogs.

Overall, raw dog food for adult dogs consists of 10% of secreting organs, but the first 5% should be liver.

The remaining 5% should be other secreting organs such as kidneys, pancreas, brains, OR beef eyeballs.

Besides secreting organs, raw dog food also consists of muscle meat (including fish), raw meaty bones and optional plant matter.

When you add plant matter, you’ll feed your adult dog 70% muscle meat, 10% secreting organs, 10% raw meaty bones, and 10% plant matter.

Add Raw Beef Eyeballs Whole Or Grind Them

I personally add whole raw beef eyeballs to the raw dog food I prep for my pup Wally.

But you can also grind them in a meat grinder or food processor.

Since Wally eats mostly whole cuts of meat, I don’t cut them into smaller bite-size pieces.

Truth be told, I’m also not crazy about cutting into them since they splash quite a bit when you do.

Wally, my 38 lb Feist mix, demonstrates this nicely in the video below, haha!

Be careful of the splashing if you plan on cutting one in half!

Secreting Organs for Dogs: BEEF EYEBALLS from Raw Feeding Miami

Here’s another quick beef eyeball snack video that one of my Instagram followers @thepointerbrothers21 shared with me:

Raw Dog Food Recipe With Raw Beef Eyeballs For Dogs

What’s in it:

  • 3 oz of beef green tripe from Raw Feeding Miami
  • 3 oz of beef trachea from Raw Feeding Miami
  • 2 oz of deer heart from a deer my boyfriend shot
  • 1.5 oz of thread herring from Raw Feeding Miami
  • 1 oz of deer liver from a deer my boyfriend shot
  • 1.8 oz of beef eyeball from Raw Feeding Miami
  • 1 two oz pair of frog legs from Raw Feeding Miami
  • 1.5oz of dehydrated Paradigm (veggies & herbs from Dr. Harvey’s)
  • 1/4 scoop of freeze-dried kelp from Raw Paws Pet Food (Save 15% with code K9Savings)

Wally eats 0.8 oz of liver and 0.8 oz of a different secreting organ (in this case beef eyeball) per day.

Since this beef eyeball is more than double his allowance in daily other secreting organ, he didn’t get any other secreting organs in his next 3 meals.

Remember that not every single meal needs to be 100% balanced as long as you achieve balance over the course of 7-10 days.

Where To Buy Raw Beef Eyeballs For Dogs

I bought these raw beef eyeballs online at Raw Feeding Miami (RFM) and had them shipped to our place in North Carolina.

RFM is an online raw dog food retailer who’s headquartered in Miami, FL.

They have a grand selection of different protein sources and cuts of raw meat.

These beef eyeballs come in 1lb bags and cost $9.00 per bag unless they’re on sale.

One beef eyeball weighs around 2 oz.

Any Cons?

The only time when I wouldn’t recommend feeding your dog raw beef eyeballs is if your pup has a known sensitivity, i.e. food allergy, to beef.

If that’s the case, you could replace the beef eyeballs with brains.

How To Feed Raw Beef Eyeballs For Dogs: Bottom Line

Raw beef eyeballs for dogs are a great choice for a secreting organ that’s a bit different from your typical kidneys or pancreas.

I don’t recommend them for newbie raw feeders unless you’re feeling adventurous and aren’t easily grossed out!

You can get your hands on them at RFM. 1 lb bags are $9.00 when they’re not on sale, and still quite affordable.

Just FYI, RFM describes the beef eyeballs as “not for the faint of heart” in their product description, and rightfully so!
